Congratulations to Krishan!

Krishan was athlete of the week for May 6 - 13, 2000.

Krishan is a second year athlete. He does the 100m, long jump and the relays. An exceptional work ethic, after everyone has gone, he is still working out, I need to tell him that 2 hours at practice is enough. Success has not been a gift, Krishan is fast, but, has had to train very hard to get as fast as he is. Krishan pays attention, goes to every meet he can, and seems to have fun at the meets. I look forward to watching Krishan's running career through high school. Thanks for all your hard work Krishan. Pass this link along, it will be up for awhile. Thanks, Coach Andrea.

Jenni was athlete of the week for April 9-15, 2000.

Jenni has always been very quiet. You don't even realize she is there half the time. Jenni has been very consistant in coming to practice and very attentive while there. She is always paying attention and wanting to learn more. Her running form has come a long way and she is looking like a runner. I am glad Jenni has stayed with the program and I hope she decides to do cross country as well. Thanks Jenni! Pass this link along, it will be up for a while. Coach Andrea.

Jeff was athlete of the week for April 2-7, 2000.

Jeff has been an exeptional athlete from day 1. If we had to select a most improved right now, it would be Jeff. He has come a long way and puts all his effort into every workout. When he first started with us in February, he couldn't complete the warm-up without walking and gasping for breath, now he does it with out stopping. Jeff is very well behaved and always listens to the coaches. Pass this link along, it will be up for awhile. Thanks, Coach Andrea.

Michal was athlete of the week for March 26 - April 1, 2000.

This is Michal's first season with the Youth program. She has been great to have on the team. Her enthusiasm at practice and in competition has impressed us. She has a lot of spirit and is very athletic, she would be in demand for any sport she choose. Michal is harder on herself than either I or her parents are, and I feel that is going to drive her farther. Michal shows good sportsmanship both at practice and in competition, this will gain her a lot of respect from other competitors and coaches. Thanks Michal. Tevyn was athlete of the week of March 20-26, 2000.

Tevyn is only 8 and this is his first year with the club. Tevyn has been great at practice and really pays attention. He got our attention this last weekend when he decided to do the mile. He went out a little quik and thought about stopping after 200 meters. Instead of quiting, Joe gave him a bit of encouragement and Tevyn went on to finish the race. It was this determination to finish that impressed us. I have a feeling Tevyn learned a lot about how NOT to race the mile and how to put ego aside, know you are not going to win, and just finish. The kids learn a lot from us coaches, but in reality, we learn from the kids and are reminded about things we tend to forget as adults. Thanks Tevyn! Pass this link along, it will be up for awhile. Thanks, Coach Andrea.

Chaz was athlete for the week of March 12-18, 2000.

Chaz has been the perfect athlete from day one. All the coaches have been impressed with his desire to do everything. Chaz is a very quiet kid, he is one of the smaller boys, but that only makes him try harder. He has such a wonderful attitude and never once have I heard him complain. Chaz is a great kid and I hope he stays with the program for years to come. Thanks you very much for your great attitude and participation with the SCTC Youth Program. Tiffinee was athlete of the week for March 5-11, 2000.

Tiffinee has only been working out with the group for a month. But in that month she has made an impression. She has a great attitude and loves to run, every coaches dream. She listens well and applies what she is learning during her workouts. Tiffinee has been wonderful and I hope she sticks with athletics. Pass this link along, it will be up for awhile. Thanks, Coach Andrea.

Doug was male athlete of the week for February 5-11, 2000.

Doug has been with the club for a couple of years now. He is an avid baseball player and usually just comes out in the fall for cross country. This last season, he made it to the Junior Olympic Nationals in Spartanburg, South Carolina. He had over 260 boys in his 3k race. He didn't get a PR, but he raced very well and has a very positive attitude. The experience will serve him well next cross country season when he will attempt to go to the Junior Olympics in the 11, 12 age group. Next years nationals will be in Reno, Nevada. Doug is a very good student and makes sure his studies are kept up before he comes to practice. Doug's parents are also very involved. Brian and Diane help with practice and passing out fliers whenever I ask them. Thanks you very much for your great attitude and participation with the SCTC Youth Program. Rebecca was female athlete of the week for February 5-11, 2000.

Rebecca, or Becca is she is better known as, has only been with the SCTC Youth Program for one season. She came out in the fall and did cross country. One of her first races was at Santa Theresa park in San Jose. She did very well and finished with wanting to come back and try it again. It is good to see her out the first week of practice for the track season. Becca is a joy to have around, both her parents are very supportive and well appreciated.
