How do I know what event my athlete should be competing in? This is should be discussed with the coach and the athlete together. Some athletes might want to compete in one event, the parents might want them to compete in another event, and the coach a third event. The athlete can compete in more than one event. The more important part is where they focus their training.

What if we can't attend every practice? Attending practice is not a requirement. The more times a week you attend, the more coaching and training you will receive and thus, become a better athlete. If your athlete is on a team(4x400 or 4X100), then attending practice is more important to be able to work with your team mates and the coach. Attending the track meets is a requirement if you are on a team. (Do not sign up to compete at a track meet with a team if you cannot go)
