2014 Youth Program

Another record breaking season for the youth program. We had 140 athletes this year, with over 100 kids participating in over two-thirds of the work outs. What a lot of fun! Of course, I couldn’t have done it without my two amigos, Ray Disparati (the ageless one), and Javier Najarano. Many thanks. We also have a great facility to train. A special thanks to Soquel High School and especially Stu Walters, the new Athlete Director, who helped make this all happen.

While I’m thanking people, a million thanks to Kirby Nichol and the gang at Wharf to Wharf who absolutely make this happen the SCTC Youth Program.

2014 promises to be even bigger and better and a lot of new things are going to happen.

SCTC Youth

It is going to be another exciting season for the SCTC youth program. Each year the program gets bigger and better. This year will be no exception! This year's season begins on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014 and concludes in mid-May at Soquel High school track. Practices are on Monday and Wednesday from 4:30 to 6:00 PM through Wednesday, May 7, 2014. The attendees are ages 7 through 13.

The regular season practices are followed by 6 all comer track meets to be held Tuesdays from 6:00 to approximately 7:15 PM, also meeting at Soquel High school track. Track meets commence in May. The dates of the 2014 track meets are follows: 5/13, 5/20, 5/27, 6/3, 6/10, 6/17.  They are open to ages 5 through 13. The all comer meets are more fun than words can express. You've got to be there to believe it.
All forms required will be available on singup dates. Athletes can register for 2 months.

Last year we had 100+ athletes participating, with many great results and personal bests. The youth program emphasizes flexibility with endurance and strength training. We do a variety of stretches, push ups, sit ups, and form drills.

All the workouts are geared with fun in mind. Included are hill repeats, hurdles, long jump, relays, obstacle course, monkey bars, and new this year plastic javelins. The youth program not only underscores running and conditioning, it also highlights sportsmanship and personal growth. So for those of you with little athletes at home or friends with little athletes at home, come on out and give it a try. You will be amazed at their results.
